As the demand for remakes and remasters grows, many fans are looking to the PSP’s library for inspiration. While PlayStation has done an excellent job tunas4d bringing select handheld classics back to life, there are still several PSP games that deserve a full remake using modern hardware and visuals. These were some of the best games of their time and still hold up conceptually in 2025.
Resistance: Retribution is one such title. With its engaging third-person action, compelling alternate-history setting, and strong mechanics, a modern remake could enhance its visuals, add online play, and deliver a console-quality experience. The 3rd Birthday, a controversial but ambitious continuation of Parasite Eve, could also shine with refined controls and a clearer narrative structure.
Another excellent candidate is Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, which already received praise for its tactical depth and branching storylines. A modern version with updated character models, new voice acting, and expanded choice systems could easily become one of the best strategy RPGs on PlayStation again.
The PSP era was full of gems that suffered only from hardware limitations. With the success of remakes like Crisis Core and Persona 3 Reload, there’s every reason to believe that more forgotten PSP games will return to take their rightful place in modern gaming libraries.
